Ryan Freel, a former Baltimore Orioles player, committed suicide, according to a report from Yahoo Sports. Freel was 36 years old, and played with the Orioles during the 2009 season, where he appeared in nine games.
He was one of those players that always gave it his all, and that's what fans liked about him, he gave 110% all the time, he played baseball the right way. In the outfield he would always sacrifice his body to make the catch as he made countless grabs while running full steam into the wall. Freel suffered a reported nine to ten concussions during his playing career, which has led to speculation that perhaps head trauma suffered from those concussions has something to do with him taking his own life.
That is pure speculation, but it is an unfortunate reminder during this holiday season to always hold those closest to you tight, never forget to tell the people you love that you love them, and to cherish every moment.
